In yet another fascist attempt to weaponize the federal government against political opponents, the Trump Administration has charged Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver with assault after video evidence proved she was…pushed around in a big group of people:
ICE agents using…paintball guns?
Quick tangent: When did federal agents start carrying paintball guns? After bravely pointing it at an unarmed man with his hands in the air, the bottom left picture shows where the ICE agent loses the paintball hopper (the part that holds the paintballs) and the last two pictures show the agent trying to pick it up in a not-so-funny comedy of errors. Although they don’t seem very practical in these situations, law enforcement carrying less lethal weapons is going to save the lives of (black) U.S. citizens.
The evidence is clear
As a member of Congress, Rep. McIver has oversight responsibility and is authorized to inspect the conditions ICE detainees are being kept in, which is especially important considering this particular detention center is currently being sued by the City of Newark for allegedly not securing the proper inspections and permits before opening. She was there to literally just do her job as an elected official.
After watching the video and the fact that no injuries were reported and Rep. McIver still completed her inspection after the incident, the evidence undoubtedly shows this is nothing but another politically motivated attack from Donald Trump.
What does “assault” mean?
The blatant hypocrisy is fucking despicable. Over 130 officers were injured during the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021 and the domestic terrorists who attacked them were pardoned of all crimes, so any attempt to talk tough on assaulting law enforcement will be met with the same disrespect and contempt this administration has shown the rule of law and the officers who uphold it.
