Donald Trump is accepting a $400 million dollar plane from the government of Qatar as a gift. As with many of his executive orders, this violates the U.S. Constitution. It specifically goes against the Emoluments Clause, a law that forbids government officials from accepting presents from foreign governments, something Trump did during his first term. Even he knows it’s wrong:

Attorney General Pam Bondi approved the gift. This is the same Pam Bondi that failed to reveal that she was a lobbyist for the Qatari government while being considered for her current position. This is the same Pam Bondi that, as the Florida Attorney General, declined to take legal action against Trump University after she accepted an illegal donation from the Trump Foundation. This is the same Pam Bondi that is supposed to work as the Attorney General for the United States and its citizens, not its fascist President.

The conflicts of interest are already obvious. The Trump Organization refused to pledge to avoid making deals with foreign companies and announced in April that the Trump family is building a new luxury golf resort in…Qatar. At least the U.S. has a system of checks and balances to keep corruption in check. The inspectors general and the head of the Office of Government Ethics can investigate – oh wait – Trump illegally fired them.

Investigations have shown Biden to be compliant with the rules he was supposed to follow, but Trump has spent years repeating the lies about the corruption that was never found. As usual, he went from laying the blame to playing the game. Trump is using one finger to point at his enemies and another to flip off the American people, the Constitution, and the rule of law.
