The fascist cowards in the Trump Administration purged government websites of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) images and stories in an attempt to rewhite/rewrite American history and erase the achievements and contributions of women and minorities. Some have been restored, others haven’t, none should have been gone in the first place.

The AP provided this side-by-side comparison of before and after the purge on the National Parks Service’s website. Among other changes, the word or variation of the word “slave” was used almost half as much after the purge and went from the 7th word used in the article to the 112th. Clearly, Donald Trump is continuing to downplay slavery and the consequences that are still being felt today.

While every single person and event depicted in those images was just as important and worthy, DON’T FUCK WITH HARRIET TUBMAN. She will always be one of the greatest American heroes and her legacy will not be tarnished by a fascist rapist.

Her words are just as meaningful now as they were back then, “If I could have convinced more slaves that they were slaves, I could have freed thousands more.” If we can show more people the fascist state we’re heading towards, we can free the country.
